My second quilt (ca. 2003)
My second quilt (ca. 2003)
While home this summer, I retrieved the first two quilts I ever made. Above is the second, made using scraps of an unfinished quilt started by my great-great-grandmother (who died in the early 1950s at the age of 102, so probably stopped quilting by the late 1930s) and filled in with 1930s repro fabrics. The blue was hers, and since I couldn't match it, I chose a complimentary green and sashed the 'original' part in a bright pink. This is the first quilt that I quilted by hand after getting lessons from a colleague at my summer internship at an investment bank.
