Administration

Founded in 2000 by Martha Ferguson, RN, Alternative Health Care Adult Day Center had one original mission, to bring the care and comfort of home to a full-service Medical Model Adult Day Center. Since its founding, the family owned and operated business has changed very little, still providing an unsurpassed standard of care and an unheard of client staff ratio of 5:1.

Today, daughter Leah Smith acts as administrator for the center, utilizing her degree from University of Louisville and extensive medical background to provide clients the quality of care she would expect for her own family.

Alternative Health Care is a Kentucky State Licensed and regulated medical facility. For a description of our home-like facilities, click here.

Certified Nursing Staff

Our medically certified nursing staff averages 30 years of experience assisting elderly and mentally challenged clients, with their specialized needs.

The staff strives to provide a home-like experience that has been proven to improve and prolong the quality of life over that of long-term care. Through regularly scheduled activities, clubs and quarterly outings, clients with a variety of physical and mental needs receive the physical, social and mental stimulation needed to remain independent in spite of age.

Case Management

Alternative Health Care Adult Day Center also offers case management as well as free one-on-one consultation to evaluate individual needs. Case management offers an invaluable service to every family by helping to coordinate health benefits and providing regular assessments, both in home and at the center, on a regular basis. If you’re wondering how you or your loved one can get involved, contact us today.

Clients

While clients at Alternative Health Care Adult Day Center vary by age and ability, we specialize in aging clients dealing with mild to severe mental and physical disabilities such as arthritis, Alzheimer’s, dementia, depression or prior stroke.

With the help of a skilled nursing team on site daily, each client receives a Personal Care Plan to evaluate their needs and determine a daily activity schedule that’s right for them. Because we offer an extremely low client to staff ratio of 5:1, each client receives individual attention from a trained team member dedicated to providing them the individual support they need and deserve.
