  • Meet Recap ~ 10/13/18
    Raiders Take on Coach Wood Invitational

    Jackson, Patrick, Timmy & Kevin in the JV Boys Championship

    On Saturday, the Alpharetta Cross Country team competed against over 50 of the top teams in the southeast at the Coach Wood Invitational.       

    The boys varsity, ranked 13th in the state among all classes which includes over 440 high schools, competed in the Championship race and finished 21st as a team. Sean Rager was once again the top Raider finisher. Nate Jarrow had another outstanding race as he continues to rapidly improve. Then came Will Ashe who had his best race of the season. Abayomi Woolheater, Jason Song, Grady Etheridge and Alex Wiklund were next.    

    The girls varsity, ranked 9th in 6A in Georgia, competed in the Championship race and finished 25th as a team. Daley O'Brien had her best race ever and led the Lady Raiders. Kira Wiklund, Lauren Nash, Bryndi Macdonald and Berkeley Bender were close behind. MacKenzie Mazer and Reed Racine were next.   

    The JV boys competed in the JV Championship race and finished 18th. Timmy Green and Kevin Johnson were the top two runners for the Raiders both running their best races ever. Patrick Wahl, Jackson Frizzell and Blake Williams rounded out the scorers.    

    The JV girls competed in the JV Championship race and finished 18th as a team. Emma Freeman had a huge breakout race and was the first JV finisher. Emily Cummings and Cierra McFerrin were next. Elisa Corena and Abby Schlich completed the top five.

    The Open boys finished 20th as a team. Landon Kelly had an outstanding race and was the first finisher for the Raiders. Jordan Morgan and George Vlady were next.    

    Next is the all important Region meet on Tuesday October 23rd at Webb Bridge Park. The top four teams in the Region will advance to the State meet at Carrollton on November 2nd.

    BUS ~ Athletes report to AHS: 5:00 AM
    • Bus loads at the stadium parking lot. 
    • Parents please do not pull into the top parking lot aisle to drop off your athlete.
    • Bus departs after it's loaded.
    • Estimate return arrival at AHS is 2:00 PM

    8:00 AM ~ Championship Boys ~ 10 runners
    Sean, Jason, Abayomi, Nate J, Will, Grady, Alex, Nate V, Eric J, Scott
    8:30 AM ~ Championship Girls ~ 10 runners
    Daly, Lauren, Kira, Bryndi, Berkeley, Mackenzie, Reed, Caroline, Amelia, Maureen
    9:00 AM - JV Championship Boys ~ 15 runners
    Kevin, Jackson, Timmy, Patrick, Hayden, David Z, Michael, Sebastien, Manoj, Chance, Stivan, Eric E, Elliott, Aiden, Blake

    The course is a 2 loop 5000 meter course that is mostly grass with a small dirt trail section. It is flat and fast!

    Meet Food: 
    Water coolers to refill your water bottle, limited snacks including bagels provided by Bagel Boysfruit & bagel spreads provided by the booster club. Athletes may bring their own personal snacks or a light meal.

    What to Wear: AHS XC items only ~ race uniform (singlet & shorts) + AHS XC t-shirt over your singlet, running watch, your everyday running shoes, your team sweatshirt and black sweatpants.

    What to Bring: Racing shoes if you have them, extra socks, weather appropriate gear, filled water bottle.
     - personal snack/meal or money for concessions if wanted 
     - small sports drink if wanted

    Weather: Check the weather the night before & pack/dress appropriately. Pay attention to the temperature at drop off as it may be chilly in the early morning so be prepared. Wear sweatpants and your team hoodie. If you are shivering, you are expending energy to keep warm and you may need that energy later for your race. 


    Spectator Admission Fee:  $5 per person (cash only)
    GA State Parks Parking Fee: $5 per car (cash only)

    Mackenzie Mazer - 18 sec PR, ran her best race of the season
