  • Meet Recap ~ 11/4/17
    AHS XC takes on the State Championship Meet!

    Robert Chappell flying in for a 4th place finish at the State Championship Meet 

    On Saturday the Raiders competed against the best schools in class 6A this year, at the Georgia HS State Cross Country Championships held in Carrollton, GA.

    The girls varsity finished a solid 6th place in the state.  Margaret Brehm led the way finishing 23rd overall.  Lacy Jones was next in 31st, followed by Lamis Al-Wazani who was 36th, Alicia Johnson was 39th and Avery Rose rounded out the scorers in 46th.  Lauren Nash finished 59th and Emma Fairlie was 63rd.  

    The boys varsity finished 7th place in the state.  Robert Chappell finished 4th overall and received a medal and he was first team all-state. Sean Rager was next in 30th place, Will Ashe placed 58th followed by Abayomi Woolheater who ran the best race of his life to finish 61st and Jason Song rounded out the scorers in 67th place.  Arat Joanico was 82nd place and  Varun Kasibhatla was 104th.

    Meet Information:

    Athletes
    Arrive at School:  8:15 am
    Bus Departs AHS:  as soon as the bus is loaded with the runners
    Estimated Return Arrival at AHS: 5:30 pm (see Meet Food note below). Athletes will text or call parents when close to the school.

    Meet Food: The team will provide water, Powerade, and limited snacks.
     - Runners may want to pack some personal light pre-meet snacks. Do not eat within 3 hours of your race.  
     - Athlete spectators may want to pack some snacks. 
     ** We will stop for lunch on the way home. All food (including lunch) is sponsored by the booster club.

    What to Wear:  AHS Cross Country items ONLY~ race uniform (singlet & shorts), AHS Cross Country t-shirt over your singlet, Boathouse jacket, black sweatpants (if chilly), & your everyday running shoes. GHSA enforces STRICT uniform rules. Coach Melissas will review what is permitted. If you are unsure, ask Coach Melissas.

    **Athlete Spectators** - Wear your AHS Cross Country Gear!

    What to Bring: Racing shoes, extra socks, weather appropriate gear, filled water bottle.

    Spectators

    Admission: 
     $5 per person.

    What to Wear:  AHS Cross Country spirit wear!  If you need some, check with Liz Ashe for available items.
