The Reverend Nanese A. Hawthorne

The Reverend Nanese A. Hawthorne answered the call to become the next Rector of All Hallows, began her ministry here in June 2013, and lives in the Rectory on Federal Street.

Nanese received her Masters of Divinity at the Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria, Virginia and served as the Rector at The Church of Our Saviour in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania. She came to the Diocese of Easton as Rector at St. Luke’s Parish in Church Hill, Maryland and is known to many members of our church who have been active in the Diocese of Easton.

She serves on the Standing Committee of the Diocese of Easton and the Camp Wright Committee. She is an Education for Ministry (EfM) Coordinator for the Diocese of Easton and the Diocese of Delaware. She is currently a Spiritual Director trained at Washington Union Seminary and is pursing further training at Shalem Institute in Washington, D.C.

Her areas of special interest are Christian and Elementary Education. Nanese was graduated from Missouri Valley College with a B.S. degree. For 21 years she served as a classroom teacher for grades 4-8. Her subjects included science, math, and language arts. For eleven summers she worked at Camp Arrowhead, a summer camp in the Diocese of Delaware in Lewes, Delaware where she was the Summer Director and the Director of Christian Education.

Nanese has a home in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware where she enjoys spending time with family and friends at the beach. Her hobbies include traveling, reading, walking and playing with her dog.

She has two grown children, a daughter and three grandchildren in Middletown, Delaware as well as a son with two grandchildren in North Bend, Oregon.
