Bio

I moved to New Brighton and bought my house here nine years ago.  I chose New Brighton because I saw a safe city, a city investing in its future through excellent schools and a strong commitment to community.  I knew New Brighton was the place I wanted to belong to, a place for my wife, Liza and I, to start a family.

My parents taught me early on the importance of family, community, civic responsibility, and education (with 65 years of experience as educators between them!).  They also instilled in me a work ethic that I will bring to the City Council.

I worked as an advocate for the middle class, working families, public university students and for rights for the LGBTQ community in Minnesota at the state and federal level, which has given me a deep understanding of how policies and laws directly impact people's lives.

The experience of seeking solutions, building coalitions and providing a vision for the future has taught me how to get things done in government.
