Services

Many of our members offer services - such as swarm catching, cut-outs (removing bees from within a structure) and crop or fruit tree pollination.

Swarm Catching

Have you found a swarm of bees on your property and don't know what to do? First of all, don't panic! A swarm of bees hanging in a cluster will do you no harm if you simply leave them alone and will eventually leave of their own accord. But please call a beekeeper to come get them instead! Expanding and spreading genetic diversity through swarm collection is important. Beekeepers are anxious to collect all the swarms we know about, especially feral bees swarming from trees and other structures. Typically, swarms that are not re-hived by a beekeeper will not survive long in the wild or may move into a human dwelling where they are not welcome.

Don't call an exterminator or a pest control service or spray the bees with anything, including water! Your extension agent, local law enforcement agency or fire department usually keeps a list of persons who will remove swarms.  But the best thing to do is to contact a beekeeper directly by using the list below to report a swarm of bees. Any of these beekeepers will be happy to come to your property to collect the swarm or refer the swarm to another beekeeper if they are unavailable within a short window of time.

If you do not reach or receive a response from a beekeeper within 30 minutes to an hour, please call another beekeeper from our list.

Bee Removal (Cut-outs & Trap-outs)
If a colony of bees has established a home in an unwanted location, such as inside a tree on your property, inside a structure's chimney, or within the walls or eaves of your home, the following beekeepers can remove the bees in a process called trapping or cut-out removal.
Please be advised that removing bees in this manner can involve dis-assembling parts of your home or building. Make sure you have a clear understanding with your beekeeper about the complete process and who will be responsible for what will happen from beginning to end of the entire project. A fee is usually paid to the beekeeper for this type of removal because of the amount of time and labor involved.
