The Allen County Beekeepers Association (ACBA) is a non-profit organization for beekeepers and those interested in beekeeping. New members are always welcome! You do not have to be a member to attend our meetings. Everyone is welcome. Come visit us whether you are a beginner or veteran beekeeper or are just thinking about becoming a beekeeper.
We meet on the second Monday of each month at 7:00pm in the Allen County Extension Office, 200 East Main Street in Scottsville, Kentucky. Our meeting topics vary from colony management to selling honey to what's in bloom.
Our main purpose is to promote better beekeeping by doing the following:
- Inform members about honeybees and beekeeping
- Provide for training in the art of beekeeping
- Teach about the importance and contribution of honeybees to the welfare of all people
- Encourage others to become members of the ACBA
The Kentucky State Beekeepers Association will hold it's Spring 2015 meeting May 16 at the Franklin County Extension Office service building located at 101 Lakeview Court, Frankfort, Ky. The speakers will be Phil Craft, Bee Commerce columnist and former Kentucky State Apiarist retired with has presentation "When Beekeeping Goes ", Dr Tammy Horn beekeeping author and current Kentucky State Apiarist who will present a program on "Recognizing and Dealing with Hive Diseases" and EAS Certified Master Beekeeper Kent Williams who will be doing a program on colony losses. Registration will begin at 8:00am EDT with free coffee and donuts and programs will start at 9:00am EDT.
