I'm two. Here I come... Two years ago, my husband and I drove to Toulouse for my 37 week check up. The doctor’s visit was Saturday and on Sunday, Amaya always the early bird, came into our world and changed us forever. 36 weeks and 4 days it says on her birth certificate, a little crevette that weighed just over 2 kilos (5 pounds). Now she is as tall as a three year old, has been to America twice, speaks two languages, makes mayonnaise with a whisk and reads over 25 words. She woke at 5am this morning, excited. She tore into her presents, four wonderful books from her aunt Novella, four books and clothes and a velveteen rabbit from her american grandma who she calls Pat, and a box of wonderful gifts from her grand uncle and grand aunt in Oregon. I made her a big cloth book called ‘close your clothes’ and Benji gave her a bright pink tricycle that we got with a gift certificate given to us more than a year ago. It’s going to be a busy day for her birthday; we celebrated with friends, cake, and dancing last Sunday. Today we are going to our lawyer’s office to sign official papers that if something happens to Benji and I that my sister and her partner of 12 years, Bill will become Amaya's parents. They will be free to raise her in America or in France, which ever they deem appropriate since Amaya will also inherit our house and our life insurance. Amaya is full of smiles for everyone, she loves to serve cafe in the morning, her kangaroo is with her always, digging in the dirt and planting seeds are daily activities, finding big sticks to carry and walk with, pushing a chair up to the counter and stirring bowls and licking spatulas, dancing in circles, she loves going to her great grandpa’s (papie chocolat) house and we will go and celebrate with him today, fava beans and avocados are her favorites as well as fish, she loves music but tells us not to “pas chanter” sing because we are off-tune, she adores books, and today for the first time she climbed out of the crib by herself, she is determined, hardheaded, will take an hour bath if you let her, she knows all her colors in French and English, and finally is starting to count, she loves preschool and says she is going to see her ‘friends’ when she goes, everyday she points to the moon and says ‘regard la lune’. We will never sleep again. Amaya is here. Life is so full of activities and that little munchkin voice calling out to us at each moment: “maman, papa!” All our friends have oodles of kids and we all play together happily. We go to sleep like chickens and wake to our little rooster calls; we decline all invitations for dinner parties or anything after 8pm. Our house is a breeding ground for teddybears. We’ll never look at the world the same again. Amaya is here to interpret it for us. Our lives are full of her future.
Lawyer's Office
Lawyer's Office
Lawyer's Office in Owosso, Michigan. This seemed so interesting to me, just having a sign "Lawyer's Office" instead of having the names on the sign. And the color of the building is great.

America's Lawyer-Presidents: From Law Office to Oval Office (English and English Edition)
The historic election of Barack Obama was rife with references to Abraham Lincoln, perhaps the greatest lawyer-president, whose legal career spanned 25 years and 5,100 cases. President Obama’s ties to Lincoln are part of a great tradition begun by John Adams, the first lawyer-president, who combined a twenty-year law practice with major contributions to our nation’s founding charters. His son, John Quincy Adams, argued landmark U.S. Supreme Court cases both before and after his presidency, one of eight lawyer-presidents to appear as counsel before the highest court in the land. And Rutherford B. Hayes and Benjamin Harrison were among those lawyer-presidents who handled notable high-profile cases, including sensational murder trials.
These are but a few of the fascinating—yet still largely unknown—stories about America’s lawyer-presidents. Now available in an updated, expanded paperback edition, America’s Lawyer-Presidents sheds light on the legal backgrounds of each of these chief executives and how their experiences as lawyers impacted and shaped their presidencies. Written by historians and presidential scholars and featuring an engaging and image-rich presentation, America’s Lawyer-Presidents provides unique insights into our national leaders and their lives and times, from colonial days to the present.
