Beautiful example of a great sea-going yacht for sale
The Halcyon 27 is based on the Folk Boat design, with a long keel and 6'1" headroom in the saloon. Alkuon of Fambridge had a major refit in 2009, and is well equiped and being sailed down the east coast of England now (May 2011) - see below.

Sailing trip from Hartlepool to Lowestoft May 2011
Tuesday 10th May 2011
Sailed from Hartlepool to Scarborough. Close hauled all the way. Motored last 5 miles after wind dropped.
Wednesday 11th May 2011
Decided to clean the barnacles off the prop. Will dry out against a wall here in Scarborough Marina this afternoon, and spend tonight here before setting off for Grimsby tomorrow.

Dried out against harbour wall in Scarborough marina. Thanks to Bob and another friendly boat owner for helping with boat manouevering. Scrubbed the hull and cleaned barnacles off the prop.

After taking advice, decided to sail directly from Scarborough to Lowestoft instead of calling in Grimsby, as it takes so long to sail in an out of the Humber to Grimsby. Set off at about 1000. Did 7.2 Knots through the water with one reef in the main in Scarborough bay. Long overnight trip to north Norfolk coast. A bit bumpy near Humber estuary, but boat handled well. Having a long keel means the boat's motion is mainly fore and aft, rather than in rolling around. Because of unexpected local southerly (instead of SW or W and later NW) winds and a problem with the engine clutch slipping and no power getting to the prop, had to ask to be towed into Great Yarmouth. Will get the clutch fixed here before continuing to Essex. Alkuon is tied up against the quay in the town now if anyone wants to see her.

Alkuon is in Great Yarmouth in a boatyard. She has been taken out of the water for antifouling whilst the clutch is fixed. It turns out that it only needs adjusting, which is done by removing a plate on the top of the clutch and adjusting 2 bolts. Expect to be in the water again on Friday and to sail to Shotley Point marina that day.

Decided to put Alkuon into Lowestoft Boat Sales, which is where I bought her in 2009. She is now on the sales pontoon there. She proved to be an excellent sea boat. I always felt safe in her and a lot of people have admired her for her for her sleek lines and looking like a "proper" sailing boat.
