About Us

Al-Jouf  University Medical Library provides service to College of Medicine, College of Dentistry and College of Pharmacy. The Medical Library currently holds more than 5,000 volumes of printed books, subscribes to thousands of electronic journals and e-books titles, and provides access to many other electronic information resources.

Library Services

Besides providing the usual library services like circulation, bibliographic and reference information assistance, the library strives to provide the following specialized services:

Educational Services/ Curriculum Support: The library strives to serve the educational/curriculum needs of its clientele. It provides instruction on reseach methods, database searching, use of library and internet resources and selected computer productivity programs by organizing and conducting library orientation programs, workshops either on demand or in anticipation and through user guides and consultations.

Scheduled Workshops: The Medical Library offers hands-on workshops to meet the information needs of faculty, staff and students. The topics of workshops are generally determined by the interests of the users.

Library Liaison  Program: The Medical Library staff function as liaisons to help users:

  • get required information for their educational and research pursuits;
  • alert them with the new information in their field;
  • inform them of new library services and programs;
  • provide orientation programs to new faculty members, staff and students; and;
  • offer training on how to use the electronic resources effectively

Research Support: The library provides research support to faculty, students and researchers either on demand or in anticipation.

Library Email Alerts: The library uses an electronic mailing list to disseminate new and relevant information, resources, services and educational offerings to its clientele. To receive the upadate, please send your request to: medlib@ju.edu.sa

Library Collection

The Medical Library features a multi-faceted collection supporting the educational, research and administrative information needs of faculty, staff and students. A written collection development policy governs building of the collection. Library users may recommend titles for potential inclusion in the collection.

Journals: The users of Medical library have access to thousands of electronic journals through  online subscriptions, consortially purchased subscription through the Saudi Digital Library (SDL) and aggregated database packages.

Books: The Medical Library is currently having over 5,000 volumes of printed books comprising all areas of medicine. The book collection is arranged  by the National Library of Medicine (NLM) call numbers in the main stack area. A comprehensive collection of  e-books are also available through various databases.
