Ali Mahdavi Amiri
I am a University Research Associate at the department of Computing Science, Simon Fraser University. Previously, I was an NSERC postdoctoral fellow at GrUVi lab working with Prof. Zhang. GrUVi is the second best vision and graphics lab in Canada and is within 15 best labs in the world.
I received my PhD from the Univertsity of Calgary where I have been also a sessional instructor and a postdoctoral fellow at the department of computer science working with Prof. Samavati.
My main research interest is Computer Graphics with specialty in Geometric Modeling, Digital Fabrication, and Machine Learning (Google Scholar). I have received several awards including NSERC Postdoctoral Fellowship, Graduate Achievement Award, Michael A. J. Sweeney Award, and Teaching Excellence Award.
[Jan 2019]. Our patent, "Digital earth system featuring integer-based connectivity mapping of aperture-3 hexagonal cells" , is finally approved.
[Dec 2018]. I will officially hold a University Research Associate position from January 2019 at the department of Computing Science, Simon Fraser University.

[Aug 2018]. Our paper, Construction and Fabrication of Reversible Shape Transforms , has been conditionally accepted at SIGGRAPH ASIA, 2018.
[Aug 2018]. I will present our TOG paper, Semi-Supervised Co-Analysis of 3D Shape Styles from Projected Lines, at SIGGRAPH 2018.
[Jul 2018]. I will be the local chair of the International Geometry Summit, held in Vancouver, Canada, July 17-21, 2019. Please consider sending your contributions to one of the conferences and attending the summit. More coming!
[Jan 2018]. I will be the editor of two chapters in the "Manual of Digital Earth". One chapter on the Digital Earth platforms and the other on the applications of Machine Learning in Digital Earth.
