About Alicja

Dear Friends,

New medical challenges are awaiting us. Our little Alicja will urgently need two surgeries in 2018.

Firstly, for the past year, we have been exploring the possibility of improving her very limited hearing by fitting her with a Cochlear Implant on her non implanted side (we have learned that the initial diagnosing about total absence of hearing nerves wasn’t correct).  It has been a real struggle to find a doctor who could implant a child with Alicja’s condition.  Finally, we found Prof. Sennaroglu from Turkey, a world know specialist who has accepted her for additional tests and probably an implantation surgery as soon as at the beginning of February 2018. There is no time to lose as Alicja’s ability to benefit from the implant rapidly decreases at her age.

Secondly, we have recently learned that Alicja’s reconstructed leg in badly twisting. Dr. Paley, Alicja’s American surgeon, has told us that she urgently needs a corrective surgery within the next six months. Otherwise, she will lose her ability to walk and the twist may become irreversible. We cannot allow that to happen! Walking is Alicja’s greatest passion!
