Alice B. Acheson is an Independent Book Marketing and Publicty Specialist.

She utilizes four decades of publishing experience, including six as Editor, to teach and consult on publishing questions.  Her company provides a full range of services for publishers, authors, illustrators and photographers of fiction and non-fiction on a national, regional and/or local basis.  These services include marketing (from book contract through publication), publicity (including author tours), special sales, and subsidiary rights (especially magazines and book clubs).

All of these services were utilized by the publisher of OLD TURTLE, winner of the 1993 American Booksellers Book of the Year Award, quite a feat for a first book when Pfeifer-Hamilton had never published a children's book nor marketed any book nationally.  For that success and more, Acheson won the 1993 Literary Market Place Award for Outside Services in Advertising/Promotion/Publicity.  Her publicity efforts have also included many New York Times bestsellers (four simultaneously).

In addition to her publicity and consulting work, Alice maintains an active teaching schedule:  for authors, illustrators and photographers she conducts a variety of marketing workshops throughout the U.S., including "You're Writing the Manuscript, Now What?" (10 hours), "The Greatest Marketing Tool of All" (three hours; on the verbal pitch) and "Publishing Choices: P.O.D., Self-Publishing, Traditional Publisher.  For booksellers she conducts a variety of marketing workshops; for beginning and intermediate publishers, she has taught two basic classes on marketing sponsored by the Independent Book Publishers Association at the annual BookExpo America convention.
