-Sprague Electric

After the closing of Arnold Print Works in 1942, it became Sprague Electric. Sprague Electric was a major component to the city of North Adams and the lifestyle of its employees. It employed 4,137 workers in a community of 18,000. It was the towns highest employer. The plant prospered during World War II and for a long time afterwards. It wasn't until  1985 that sales started to decline, which caused the plant to shut down all operations.
