A free event, ‘How to interpret Council Budgets”, was held on Thursday 7 March 2019 by the ALGWA SA Branch & Local Government Association with over 40 participants at Local Government Association House. Kate George (Manager Accounting with City of Salisbury) gave a presentation and answered many questions from the mainly first-time elected members.

ALGWA SA President, Betty Gill welcomed women and men councillors and mayors including those who have travelled as far away as Coorong, Clare, Victor Harbour, Mid Murray, Mt Barker, Murray Bridge & Yankalilla.

Sama Reid (Manager Marketing & Communications from Local Government Association and her team was thanked for assistance.

Cr Barbara Clayton (Port Adelaide Enfield Council) won the business card draw prize of a limited edition signed print "Women Hold Up Half the Sky" by nationally acclaimed artist, Ann Newmarch. This was a tribute to International Women;s Day on 8 March.

Blacktown City NSW is proud to host the 2019 National Australian Local Government Women's Association (ALWGA) Conference from Wednesday 15 to Friday 17 May 2019 at Novotel Sydney, West HQ.

The conference theme 'Celebrating 100 Years of Women' will focus on how far women in local government have come in the last 100 years.
