47th Algonquian Conference (2015)

Winnipeg, Manitoba, October 22-25, 2015

The 47th Algonquian Conference is hosted by the University of Manitoba and will be held at the James W. Burns Executive Education Centre in the historic Exchange District in downtown Winnipeg. The conference organizers are Nicole Rosen and Will Oxford. You can get in touch with us at algonquianconference@gmail.com.

Program: Version 8, October 22We hope that this will be the final version.

Airport transportation: When you exit the airport, the taxi stand is on your left and the city transit bus stop is on your right.

  • A taxi to downtown will take about 15 minutes and should cost about $20 (regular meter rates apply).
  • The city transit bus takes 25 minutes and the fare is $2.60, exact change only. Take the 15 Mountain bus (not the 20 Watt). The 15 Mountain departs every 15-20 minutes and brings you directly to Portage Avenue downtown (view map and schedule). There is a real-time departure screen at the bus stop and there are automatic audio and visual announcements for all stops on board the bus. If you are going to the Radisson, exit at the stop at Portage and Donald (MTS Centre) and you will see the Radisson directly ahead. If you are going to a different downtown hotel, ask the driver where to exit.

Downtown Winnipeg information: Our venue, the James W. Burns Executive Education Centre, is on the 2nd floor of 177 Lombard Avenue, a historic building steps from Portage and Main. 177 Lombard is five short blocks from the Radisson. Note, however, that there are no pedestrian crossings at Portage and Main, so either use the underground walkway shown in orange on the map (and exit via the Richardson Centre) or take the surface walking route shown in purple, crossing Main St. at McDermot Ave:
