Personal Profile
Associate Professor in the Department of Information and Communication Sciences at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC). Member of the Learning, Media, and Entertainment Research Group (GAME) at UOC. I hold a PhD in Chemistry from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) (2003) and a Bachelor’s degree in Information and Documentation from UOC (2003). I also completed a Master’s degree in Journalism and Digital Communication at UOC (2024). For over ten years, I taught at UAB in various temporary academic positions. Since 2007, I have been a faculty member in the Department of Information and Communication Sciences at UOC, where I served as Academic Director for the Bachelor’s Degree in Information and Documentation (2015–2025). I have also been a visiting researcher at Loughborough University (UK). I live in Cardedeu.
Research Interests and Focus Areas
In recent years, my research focus has centered on disinformation and open science. I have published several journal articles and book chapters on fake news, open science, and social media management. I am a researcher with the Learning, Media, and Entertainment Research Group (GAME) and provide training in these areas for various institutions, primarily public and academic libraries. I am also the author of the popular science book Bulos científicos: de la tierra plana al coronavirus (Scientific Fake News: From Flat Earth to Coronavirus).
