Honors, Awards, and Achievements

-Fleming, Florey, and Chain all received the Nobel Prize in Medicine in 1945. Fleming's Nobel prize was gained by the national Museums of Scotland in 1989, and will be in the Royal Museums when it opens in 2011.

- Received the Hunterian Professorship but the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
- Knighted in 1944
-Swedish Magazines ranked Penicillin as the most important discover of the millennium. The Magazines claimed the almost 200 million lives have been saved by the antibiotic.
- A statue of Fleming was built outside the main bullring in Madrid.
