Founded in 1966, the Alabama Counseling Association (ALCA) is an organization of counseling professionals who work in education, health care, residential homes, private practice, community agencies, and government and business/industry settings. It is a state branch of the American Counseling Association (ACA).

In the same vein, Chapter VIII serves as a Chapter Branch of the ALCA as the southwesternmost chapter. The Chapter seeks to implement activities that serve the purposes of both our parent and grandparent organizations.

Residents of Baldwin, Clarke, Conecuh, Escambia, Mobile, Monroe, and Washington counties who are members of Alabama Counseling Association are automatically members of Chapter VIII.

Our Chapter has approximately 200 members, and we continue to grow. We are fostering collaborations with our seven counties and with like-minded community agencies such as the Mobile Licensed Professional Counselors Association (MLPCA), Chi Sigma Iota (international honor society for counseling), and local Universities to increase our membership.

We encourage you to explore the site and consider becoming an active member of our Chapter. Welcome to Chapter VIII!

"If your actions inspire others to
dream more, learn more, do more and
become more, you are a leader.”
