Testimonials from pupils

"Alan is a master at creating a safe and gentle space which allows me to access and release unconscious emotions held in my body. Something as basic as being guided through the semi-supine technique takes me to a place of deep healing. Alan's light guiding touch shows the depth of his understanding and experience. Each session seems simple, yet is often profound...on many levels." Kate Friendship

“I was diagnosed with scoliosis as a teenager about 20 years ago. Despite having received successful corrective surgery at that time, I have, over the last few years, been experiencing varying degrees of back pain, muscle spasms, headaches, dizziness and balance issues.

I have found the Alexander Technique to be hugely beneficial. I have gradually developed a greater understanding of my body and the effects that simple habits, such as how I walk, stand up or sit down can have on it. This awareness of my body and how it moves and functions has given me the opportunity to understand, address and control the symptoms I have been experiencing. These symptoms have now improved considerably, as have my breathing and posture.

Through the Alexander Technique I am understanding the significant impact that the scoliosis and the surgery have had on my body, and I am realising how important it will be to continue practising the Alexander Technique as I get older.” Jennifer English

“My Public Speaking Coach, as a way of improving my breathing technique an hence the quality of my speaking voice, suggested the Alexander Technique. Since starting to learn the technique I am amazed by the difference it has made to my posture, wellbeing and interestingly everyday stress management. The technique is holistic and works from first principles to improve posture, motion and body awareness. It is simple to learn, and rapidly effective. It has improved my back pain, which is an added bonus! I would not hesitate to recommend it.” Dr Fiona Fawcett

"Since starting Alexander lessons my personal, social and worklife are far more enjoyable. I no longer have to visit the doctor for painkillers. To work with the Alexander Technique has been the best decision of my life." Neil Cleland

"Wednesday's session was a transformation. Since the session my right shoulder pain and tension have gone. However, the effect went far beyond simple pain relief. I have found the Alexander Technique to be a gentle and yet very powerful healing system." Dr Brian McMullen

"The understanding and support Alan carries into his work helps me to feel safe in meeting aspects of myself that I was not aware of. Alan's encouraging approach to freeing yourself is supporting me in releasing fear and stored stories which no longer support me. Every lesson is a new gateway to deeper understanding, compassion, self love and growth and it feels great." Elena Stevenson

"I have found the course of Alexander Technique lessons with Alan to be beneficial in a number of ways. Discomfort in my back, neck and shoulders have begun to ease and I am learning to retrain my body to prevent tension from being held in my muscles. The quality of my breathing has improved and I feel that I carry myself in a more graceful manner." Kay Kay

"Through Alan Massey's gentle and comfortable approach to this therapy I feel much taller and more centred. Also, since experiencing the Alexander Technique my posture has greatly improved." Pat Thomas
