Alan de Brauw

I am a Senior Research Fellow in the Markets, Trade, and Institutions Division at the International Food Policy Research Institute. I have a Ph.D. in Agricultural and Resource Economics from the University of California at Davis and a B.A. in Physics from Carleton College. My research agenda focuses on the effects of migration on source households, how agricultural value chains work and can be made more inclusive, and on interventions to make diets healthier. I am currently leading an ACIAR project called Innovative Financial Services for Agriculture (links to project documents on the project page) and a CEDIL project on the SHARPE program in Ethiopia. I recently wrote a book with Erwin Bulte of Wageningen University and Research entitled "African Farmers, Value Chains, and Agricultural Productivity: An Economic and Institutional Perspective."
