Course Description: This course will explore current information and best practices in physical education and school health with special focus on increasing students’ physical activity levels and the connection between activity, health and academic success. Offered in a variety of classroom and activity formats, sessions will utilize the expertise of local, state, and national presenters to address best practices in multiple areas including various activity programs; suicide prevention; school nutrition; school safety and security including disaster preparedness, bullying and cyber safety; peer education programs, youth resiliency programs and more.
Course Objectives: At the conclusion of this course, you will be able to:
- Analyze current trends and best practices in various areas of school health and wellness.
- Identify ways to incorporate best practices in your school or work setting.
This course requires attendance at a minimum of 15 hours of pre-conference and/or conference activities as well as additional written assignments.
