  • simulator consisting of a machine on the ground that simulates the conditions of flying a plane
  • (Flight Simulators) are extensively used in the aviation industry to train pilots, but made their mark early in computer game history and continue to be a very popular genre that provides accurate and interactive simulation of flying crafts (Jet - Sublogic Corporation/1985, Microsoft Flight

"The "Eagles" of Training Squadron SEVEN (VT-7) have the mission of safely and effectively training the world's finest Naval Aviators and preparing them for service and success in the Fleet. Student Naval Aviators train for approximately twelve months in the fundamentals of strike aviation. Initial flights and simulators are devoted to Instrument Flight Rules, culminating in an instrument rating. In the Familiarization stage, students learn basic aircraft maneuvering, aerobatics, and landing skills foundational to the aircraft carrier environment. Numerous multi-aircraft flights provide requisite skills in two-plane, four-plane, and night formation flying. The second phase of flight training exposes students to manual air-to-ground bombing, Tactical Formation, Air Combat Maneuvering, and Operational Navigation at low altitude. Finally, students perform Field Carrier Landing Practice (FCLP) in preparation for their Carrier Qualifications (CQ). In order to become "tailhookers" and earn their Wings of Gold, students must safely complete four touch-and-goes and ten arrested landings aboard a carrier at sea. VT-7 originated as a Naval Advanced Training Activity located at Naval Air Station Memphis, Tennessee. It was initially composed of two advanced training units. These were consolidated into Basic Training Group SEVEN, which employed the T-28 “Trojan” and T-29 “Seastar” to train student aviators in basic instrument flying. BTG-7 was designated as VT-7 in July, 1960, and relocated to NAS Meridian, Mississippi, one year later. VT-7 then split to form a “sister” squadron, Training Squadron NINE (VT-9) in December, 1961. In 1964, VT-7 won its first of seventeen Chief of Naval Operations Aviation Safety "S" Awards. A superior safety record and an aggressively professional approach to safeguarding lives and aircraft enabled the Command to again receive the CNO Safety Award in 2006. The T-2 "Buckeye" was used in VT-7 from 1962 until 1971. The Command then transitioned to the Douglas TA-4J “Skyhawk” to train pilots for advanced strike missions. The first advanced strike student earned his Wings of Gold in the spring of 1972. The last Naval Aviator trained by VT-7 in the TA-4J graduated in 1999, when VT-7 transitioned to the Boeing T-45C "Goshawk." In its first year of Goshawk service, VT-7 flew over 18,000 sorties and made nearly 1,300 carrier landings. The Command flew 18,500 mishap-free hours in FY2007, training 85 students with a staff of 45 Active Duty and 25 Reserve Instructor Pilots. As of October 2007, the “Eagles” of VT-7 have winged over 3,900 Naval and Marine Corps Aviators. Additionally, the Squadron has trained over 320 International Students from France, Italy, Kuwait, Spain, Thailand, Singapore, Taiwan, and Brazil. VT-7's Eagles are dedicated to their mission of training Student Naval Aviators, and will continue providing the fleet with the finest Naval Aviators in the world."

the spitfire is the most agile fighter in the game. With the limited amount of ammunition in these planes it is important to make each round count. there are a few options. 1. aim for the cockpit and kill the pilot. 2. take out the engine. 3. destroy the control surfaces of the enemy planes and they spiral out of control ! this is easier to achieve if they are pushing the envelope in the vertical fight for example. or low altitudes. 4. get some rounds into the armoured fuel tanks and kaboom.

On Combat, The Psychology and Physiology of Deadly Conflict in War and in Peace
On Combat looks at what happens to the human body under the stresses of deadly battle the impact on the nervous system, heart, breathing, visual and auditory perception, memory - then discusses new research findings as to what measures warriors can take to prevent such debilitations so they can stay in the fight, survive, and win. A brief, but insightful look at history shows the evolution of combat, the development of the physical and psychological leverage that enables humans to kill other humans, followed by an objective examination of domestic violence in America. The authors reveal the nature of the warrior, brave men and women who train their minds and bodies to go to that place from which others flee. After examining the incredible impact of a few true warriors in battle, On Combat presents new and exciting research as to how to train the mind to become inoculated to stress, fear and even pain. Expanding on Lt. Col. Grossman s popular "Bulletproof mind" presentation, the book explores what really happens to the warrior after the battle, and shows how emotions, such as relief and self-blame, are natural and healthy ways to feel about having survived combat. A fresh and highly informative look at post traumatic stress syndrome (PTSD) details how to prevent it, how to survive it should it happen, how to come out of it stronger, and how to help others who are experiencing it. On Combat looks at the critical importance of the debriefing, when warriors gather after the battle to share what happened, critique, learn from each other and, for some, begin to heal from the horror. The reader will learn a highly effective breathing technique that not only steadies the warrior s mind and body before and during the battle, but can also be used afterwards as a powerful healing device to help separate the emotion from the memory. Concluding chapters discuss the Christian/Judeo view of killing in combat and offers powerful insight that Lt. Col. Grossman has imparted over the years to help thousands of warriors understand and come to terms with their actions in battle. A final chapter encourages warriors to always fight for justice, not vengeance, so that their remaining days will be healthy ones filled with pride for having performed their duty morally and ethically. This information-packed book ploughs new ground in its vision, in its extensive new research and startling findings, and in its powerful, revealing quotes and anecdotes from top people in the warrior community, people who have faced the toxic environment of deadly combat and now share their wisdom to help others. On Combat is easy to read and powerful in scope. It is a true classic that will be read by new and veteran warriors for years to come.
