The Balloon Route Trolley Trip was begun as part of the Los Angeles Pacific Railway Company. Managed by C.M. Pierce beginning in 1904, the tourist excursion covered more than 101 miles for the cost of a dollar, leaving and returning to downtown L.A., visiting ten beaches and eight cities in its balloon-shaped loop.
