Heart Rate Zones Calculator

    heart rate
  • pulse: the rate at which the heart beats; usually measured to obtain a quick evaluation of a person's health
  • Heart rate is the number of heartbeats per unit of time - typically expressed as beats per minute (bpm) - which can vary as the body's need to absorb oxygen and excrete carbon dioxide changes, such as during exercise or sleep.
  • The number of times your heart beats within a minute. Each individual beat can be felt in certain locations on the body. (See carotid pulse and radial pulse.) You can count these beats to calculate your heart rate (beats per minute).
  • Something used for making mathematical calculations, in particular a small electronic device with a keyboard and a visual display
  • an expert at calculation (or at operating calculating machines)
  • a small machine that is used for mathematical calculations
  • A calculator is a small (often pocket-sized), usually inexpensive electronic device used to perform the basic operations of arithmetic. Modern calculators are more portable than most computers, though most PDAs are comparable in size to handheld calculators.
  • An area or stretch of land having a particular characteristic, purpose, or use, or subject to particular restrictions
  • A range of longitudes where a common standard time is used
  • (zone) a locally circumscribed place characterized by some distinctive features
  • (zone) any of the regions of the surface of the Earth loosely divided according to latitude or longitude
  • A well-defined region extending around the earth between definite limits, esp. between two parallels of latitude
  • (zone) regulate housing in; of certain areas of towns

Heat 2 and 3 heart-rate
Heat 2 and 3 heart-rate
I figured that since I get pretty knackered when driving longer heats it would be interesting to see if I can find out why and when. Here are two heats driven back to back with only a few minutes to run out, drink some water and then run back in and drive some more. These are just quick 10 minute heats, but still, you see the average heart rate rise steadily as you drive on. I'm going to wear the heart monitor the next time we do a 20 or 30 minute heat to see if I pass 185. My guess is that I probably do after about 15-16 minutes. No wonder my right arm (there's a right-right section on that other track that is pretty hard work) almost quit on me after doing 45 minutes in 3 roughly 15 minute stints a few weeks ago. Pretty good cardio workout though :-) (This gave me an idea: what if we bring the monitor and a GPS the next time we go on the Nürburgring Nordschleife and see if there are any recognizable patterns :-))

day 183 - 5/25/07 - I've been using a heart rate monitor since January and highly highly recommend it. I can't imagine working out without it.

Tech4o Traileader Pro Performance - Watch
Wired for adventure, the TraiLeader Pro will never slow you down. It accurately monitors heart rate and measures speed and distance. The digital compass will guide you in the right direction, and the barometer helps you monitor changing conditions. Ramp it up with the TraiLeader Pro. Dont leave home without it.

The Tech 4O TraiLeader Pro may look like a watch, but it works like the ultimate survival tool, packing everything you need to navigate the wildest of wild places within a compact, rugged case. The accuracy of the TraiLeader Pro derives from its accelerometer sensor, which detects changes in the user's movement (acceleration) and then translates them into varying degrees of electric current within the sensor. Next, the watch decodes these electrical currents into highly accurate measurements of speed and distance and displays them on the watch face. Accelerometer sensors are commonly found within a diverse range of industrial products in which accuracy is critical to performance, including automobile airbags and tilt meters.

The TraiLeader Pro includes a PC link that syncs with your computer.
The TraiLeader Pro does more than just track speed and distance, however, with sophisticated instruments that determine your pace, calories burned, steps, and exercise/moving time. Plus, the watch records a fully adjustable personal profile--helping you develop custom training routines--and offers an ultra-reliable 10-day memory function that tracks your progress in the short term.
The TraiLeader Pro is also equipped with a number of instruments for hiking and climbing, including an altimeter, barometer, and digital compass. The altimeter measures your current altitude, reference altitude, and ascent/descent rates, while offering such features as a 48-hour altitude graph, an altimeter lock, a 24-hour maximum and minimum altitude indicator, an altitude difference calculator, and altitude alarms. The barometer, meanwhile, gauges the current pressure and temperature, with a weather forecaster, 24-hour temperature readout, and 48-hour pressure graph thrown in for good measure. And the digital compass is a must for backcountry trips, with such features as a 1-degree increment resolution, an adjustable declination, a bearing lock, and a distortion warning.
Other details include 2.4 GHz heart rate measurement, a PC link that syncs up with your computer, a 50-lap chronograph, six timers, and dual time zones. Equipped with a comfortable watch band, the TraiLeader Pro carries a one-year warranty.
