I spent the last few days in San Diego, CA visiting customers. As trips go, it was one of my more eventful. The trip started with a missed flight - my first in my almost seven years and 500,000 airline miles. As I pulled into the Denver airport, all the signs said all the parking was open. As I pulled into the West garage lot, everything was listed as full - and it all was. So I tried the East garage lot, and although listed as open on the way in, it too was completely full. I then toured the economy lots on both sides and found nothing. Did I mention that I was almost out of gas? I eventually found a spot at the airport valet - at a mind numbing $27/day. I've got the drive time to the airport down to a science however, and didn't allow enough time for this oddity. I made it to the ticket counter forty (40) minutes out from my flight's scheduled departure time. They don't let you check after 45 minutes, so I was forced to take the next flight. Going through security with my bag wasn't an option because I had shampoo, etc. that the TSA no longer allows beyond 3 oz. I called the sales rep and he informed the customer that we'd have to push back the start time. When I finally got to San Diego, my bag was already there - it had actually made it to the flight I was originally supposed to be on! I miscalculated for the time zone change, and it turns out I was on the ground a full two hours before the originally scheduled start time of my customer meeting! That's fine though, because the next two days were nothing less than back to back until 8 PM at night. On top of it all, I've also been fighting a cold. I'm back home now, and looking forward to a little Thanksgiving week vacation in Breckenridge, CO.
