A Guide to Biblical Sites in Greece and Turkey
A Guide to Biblical Sites in Greece and Turkey
Nearly two-thirds of the New Testament--including all of the letters of Paul, most of the book of Acts, and the book of Revelation--is set outside of Israel, in either Turkey or Greece. Although biblically-oriented tours of the areas that were once ancient Greece and Asia Minor have become increasingly popular, up until now there has been no definitive guidebook for these important sites.
In A Guide to Biblical Sites in Greece and Turkey, two well-known, well-traveled biblical scholars offer a fascinating historical and archaeological guide to these sites. The authors reveal countless new insights into the biblical text while reliably guiding the traveler through every significant location mentioned in the Bible. The book completely traces the journeys of the Apostle Paul across Turkey (ancient Asia Minor), Greece, Cyprus, and all the islands of the Mediterranean. A description of the location and history of each site is given, followed by an intriguing discussion of its biblical significance. Clearly written and in non-technical language, the work links the latest in biblical research with recent archaeological findings. A visit to the site is described, complete with easy-to-follow walking directions, indicating the major items of archaeological interest. Detailed site maps, historical charts, and maps of the regions are integrated into the text, and a glossary of terms is provided.
Easy to use and abundantly illustrated, this unique guide will help visitors to Greece, Turkey, and Cyprus to appreciate the rich history, significance, and great wonder of the ancient world of the Bible.

Greece's Indignados continue protests for sixth day
"FOR SALE One parliament, 300 MPs (at bargain prices) They possess: Previous experience with bribes Aversion to responsibility Dedication to their masters For more information: The White Tower. In Athens, Thessaloniki and score of other cities and towns across Greece, protesters have continued to attend rallies in protest against the government and the austerity measures demanded by the country's creditors. In Athens more than 100,000 gathered peacefully in the central Syntagma Square opposite parliament to express their indigbation with not only the policies ofthe ruling PASOK party but also with the whole political system in general which is widely perceived as being corrupt and unrespeonsive to popular needs. In Greece's second largest city, Thessaloniki thousands also rallied, taking part in open assemblies which lasted from 6pm till after midnight, despite torrential downpours. Debates not only focused on the current economic crisis but also touched on wider issues such as how the country should be governed. However, as the days pass demonstrators, following the example of Spanish, Egyptian and Tunisian protests have been organising themselves with internet camps, cleaning crews, translation groups being formed in order to get their message across and keep sites tidy. In sharp contrast to massive unrest that gripped Greece in December 2008 following the police shooting of a teenager the present demonstrations have been remarkably peaceful and have included a far wider ranger of ages and political views as ordinary people unaffliated with any political group have come to hear and share with others their own experiences.

I spent the entire day re-arranging my travel itinerary for May and it drove me crazy!!!! Looking at maps, checking train schedules, perusing airfares, researching hotels, thinking up new itineraries, re-arranging everything, etc. totally exhausted me. Despite the fact that our original plan was to visit the Amalfi Coast and Tuscany, people told us that we need at least a week in both places, which is not feasible during this trip due to time and location. Before we started researching, we were a little ambitious re: our itinerary. Well we could have done it, but we'd be so busy hurrying that we wouldn't have time to really appreciate the places. So, it's next year we're off to the Amalfi Coast and Tuscany! We are both fans of the "Slow Travel" mindset. While the Egypt , Greece, and Spain itineraries have been set for awhile, the days we are in France and Italy proved to be a challenge for me, as you can see from this photo. If you know me and my sister, you know that I love France, and Rachel loves Italy (we both mutually love Spain!!). So it's ironic that I'm spending more time in Italy while Rachel has decided to spend more time in France. We are splitting up in mid-May and meeting back up in Paris before we head off to re-discover beautiful Espana. Oh yeah, and I must give a thumbs down to Monaco's Grand Prix for screwing up our schedule :)
