The club was formed in 1964 by a small group of friends who enjoyed caving but didn't want to be bound by the restrictions imposed by some of the larger clubs in existence at that time. Membership has always been small compared with many other clubs in the Yorkshire Dales, usually between 10 and 20. Through the years our members have explored most of the major and minor caving systems in the United Kingdom as well many overseas, and activities have also included walking, mountaineering and cycling , For a few years during the late 1960's and early 1970's the club had the benefits of a base at Fawber farm near Horton in Ribblesdale.
