Education Update

It has been a year and a half since the last update, and as of now I am still enrolled at UT Arlington in the Mechanical Engineering program. I'm a junior, and so far have a 3.91 GPA. I expect to graduate around Fall 2015, I think.

I have been working as an intern contractor at Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control in Grand Prairie, TX, through DCR Workforce, since January 2014. I'm assigned to the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) program, which is in the testing phase right now. Lockheed Martin is one of three finalists for the JLTV contract, and I am supporting the mechanical engineering team by creating drawings, designing brackets, and doing whatever else needs to be done. Overall, it is a very fulfilling opportunity, and I have gained a lot of experience and skills in the three months I've been there.

My longer term plans are to take the FE exam, graduate with my BS in mechanical engineering, and immediately go into industry. From there, I hope to have my future employer help me out with tuition while I pursue my Master's degree, and eventually become a PE. Of course, things can change, but that's what I'm hoping for at least.

For a short time, I was involved with UTA's Formula SAE team, and was a team associate. However, with work and school, I don't really have time to devote to another activity.

Also, unrelated to academics, I got engaged recently, and will be getting married August 2, 2014. So that's pretty exciting.
