This is my 5 minutes to get to work on time look. Nothing fancy but I did try my new Coastal Scents 88 Ultra Shimmer Palette and I love love love it. Now these are definatly shimmery but I would still have to say my Beauties Factory 18 palette is even shimmerier (almost as if someone pressed glitter kinda shimmer). Maybe I'll just start refering to my 18 as Uber Shimmer. There's a handfull of colors in the 120 that are also Uber Shimmer (there's also ultra shimmer, satin and matte, which is why the 120 selection just can't be beat though the 88 does come damn close). Another thing I love about this 88, is what everybody loves; the color payoff. The pink I used today is AMAZING! (Pink #73) and look how bright it is and I used NO base color and it came out that vibrant. It's hard getting pink to actually look pink without a color base but this palette is a miracle worker. Which also saved me time in my rush to get to work this morning lol. Another thing I must confess is - it HypMoTizes me, not just hypno - HypMotize, my little word for being to applied to all things visually distracting. (I make up words I have a whole dictionary). I can't stop staring at this palette, seriously. @_@ I keep touching it, opening it, touching it, opening it, staring and looking and looking and swatching and looking some more. I keep it on my desk in front of me just to stare and touch, stare and touch. It's not only beautiful to wear its beautiful to look at. To me its like a work o' art. This is how you know my makeup obsession has pushed me into the realm of dangerously obsessed. If I took this palette outside I'd get distracted by it and wander into traffic (better not leave the house with it any time soon lol). All shadows used are Coastal Scents 88 Ultra Shimmer. I use a left to right row numbering system same as with my 120 and 18 beauties factory. Pink #73 for lid. Purple #39 for under eye. Blue #60 for tear duct. Fleshtone #23 for highlight. For waterline Pencil me in liner in Orchid Sparks. ITS COMING ITS COMING! I've decided that I'm going to make a video (with pictures for flicr, of course) finally showing my collection and my storage method. I have a mile long list of mineral pigments and glitters I want (and at least one more eye liner) but I'm sure before I finishing getting everything on that wishlist, which'll take a while, I'll be adding something else to it (thats always how it goes with makeup) so there's no point in me waiting for my collection to be complete - there's no such thing in makeup obsession as a "complete" collection. So I'll go ahead and show you guys what I have so far and just update it every 6 or 12 months depending on how much I add or change. So expect that tomorrow.
Me: ...and here's how they looked when they arrived (taken by James, who was house-sitting for me). Watching the international tracking was a nervewrecking affair, but they got here on the last possible day. I got them Friday afternoon, to prepare them for shooting Monday morning. A trip to B+Q on the saturday proved nightmarish as they had absolutely no decent spray paints in, and I don't have an airbrush. I walked out without a brown spray paint, and with only 2 skin colours - cream and shocking pink. Enamel gloss ones, too, at that. I was shitting myself, to say the least. The best I could do was to coat the mask in the cream and then "mist" the pink from high above. With a cheap spray can this was not easy and I fucked it up at least 10 times - getting it even was terribly difficult, never mind highlighting. The hair was painted on with standard house paint that hated the gloss finish from the other paints and took about 16 coats. I had no white paint for the eyes and applying the pink to the lips turned Mel into a horrific transvestite. Still, it looked ok by now it was late Sunday night and I'd simply run out of time. I drilled the eye holes (and even managed to slip up doing that, giving him crazy-eye), and went to bed. I woke up at 5am the next day to sand down Mel's face to remove the gloss a bit, as well as print out hundreds of photoshopped $ bills, and to print and mount the Presidential crest to a foamboard sheet for the set. I left Mel in the hands of the makeup girl to see if she could apply anything better (she did, he looked fine, if somewhat different to the latex masks the rest of the band were using).
