This is the software i am currently using to rip DVDs and i found it quite easy to use. MeGui: MeGUI is a front end for encoding MPEG-4 video and audio. Unlike older programs that tend to use VFW (Video For Windows) codecs, MeGUI and other modern programs use command line encoders. MeGUI can encode XviD or x264 video and MP3 or AAC audio. It can give you files in a variety of containers, and with a variety of settings. Once you know what you're doing you can even save your own favorite settings as profiles to be used repeatedly. This is the main program that you will be using. It includes a number of useful features that significantly reduce the difficulty of creating a good quality DVD backup. This installer will install the base required files for meGUI to function. Installing MeGUI Running MeGUI requires having Microsoft's .NET Framework 2.0 installed. Once that's installed the MeGUI installer is very straight forward. When MeGUI is installed you should run it right away. MeGUI will immediately check for updates to various components. Click the Yes button and the updates will be downloaded. Most files will be put in subfolders of C:\Program Files\megui\tools. ![]() It will be helpful for you if you download all the files listed for updating including the Profiles. After the updates are downloaded, the Profile Importer window will appear. Profiles are pre-configured settings for encoding video or audio. Even if you don't want to use these settings you can still create your own profiles based on them. To download all the profiles listed in the window click on the first (top) item in the list to highlight it. Then scroll to the bottom of the list, hold down your Shift key and click the last item. Once you've finished downloading profiles you'll be prompted to restart MeGUI. You have to download Nero AAC & BeSplit separately. AviSynth Install AviSynth is an extremely powerful frameserver for Windows that allows using VirtualDub and TMPGEnc plugins as well as tons of its own plugins to be added to the frameserving process. MeGUI installs most of the required tools for you, but you'll want to make sure you have AviSynth installed first. If you want to work with AviSynth outside of MeGUI you should look at the options for the installer. In particular, the Select Association options add items to context (right click) menus within Windows Explorer. Nero AAC Encoder Advanced Audio Coding (AAC) is a standardized, lossy compression and encoding scheme for digital audio. Advanced Audio Coding is designed to be the successor of the MP3 format and demonstrates greater sound quality and transparency than MP3 files coded at the same bit rate. Nero AAC Encoder doesn't come with MeGUI and the auto-update feature won't download it. Once you download it you should create a folder called NeroAACenc under C:\Program Files\megui\tools to put it in. The download will be a zip file.
![]() You need to copy the ‘win32’ folder from the NeroDigitalAudio.zip file and paste it into C:\Program Files\megui\tools and rename the ‘win32’ folder to ‘NeroAACenc’ and you need to select it inside MeGUI. Open MeGUI and then go to Options>Settings>Program Paths>Audio and select neroAacEnc.exe . BeSplit is a little tool that allows fixing the incorrect headers in AC3 or OGG files when they've been demuxed with VirtualDub. It also allows cutting various audio files without re-encoding them. Download and copy it the same way as you did for Nero AAC Encoder. Just extract the BeSplitv0.9b6.zip to C:\Program Files\megui\tools and select it inside MeGUI. Here ends the MeGUI installation. |
