DVDs come with some kinds of copy protection which doesn’t let you copy the movie directly to your hard drive. That is why you need to copy the DVDs using a Decrypting Software. I will show you how to do it using a freeware and a shareware program. 01.DVD Decrypter(Freeware) (You can get it in the Tools section at www.rita.LT ) 02. DVDFab Platinum (Shareware)(You can Get the latest version from Here) Copying the DVD to the hard drive using DVD Decrypter(Freeware):This is a quick process and takes around 15 Mins. You'll need about 10GB of free space to complete the process. If you are using DVD Decrypter for the first time you must set it up, next time it should remember the settings. You can now start DVD Decrypter. Go to Mode at the top and select IFO from the drop-down menu. Go to Tools and select Settings In the Settings window click on the IFO Mode tab Make
sure Stream information is checked Check Include PGC Number Check Include Angle Number Check Chapter Information - IfoEdit Click OK Now DVD Decrypter is set and you're ready to rip.Next time you can start RIPPING after starting DVD Decrypter because it will remember the settings. Insert a DVD Film and close any autorun applications that begin. Wait for a few seconds, start DVD Decrypter. DVD Decrypter will usually choose the main movie for you.![]() Under Input at the top right DVD Decrypter will have automatically chosen the longest
PGC (Program Chain) for you.
If you are ripping a movie:Except for very rare occurrences, the longest chain will be the main
movie (what you will usually want). The other PGC chains will be trailers,
interviews, etc.If you are interested in ripping any of these you will either
have to view the dvd and take note of the length of the segment you want to
rip, then find the PGC that matches the length of that segment among the other
PGC chains and select it manually, or use a program like IFOEdit (free) to find
the right one. If you are ripping a dvd with several episodes on it, i.e. a TV series:Again, DVD Decrypter will choose the longest one. Usually the actual episodes will be around the same length, so you can pick them out among any trailers or other miscellaneous files. You can choose the episodes one by one, and save each PGC chain in separate destination folders (below). If you need to find a particular episode, the best bet is to use IFOEdit. Choose a Destination folder: (Click the folder icon and browse to a folder you want your vobs saved to. It is best to create a separate folder for each project you will be ripping). Click the green arrow to begin decryptingThis will take you from 10 minutes to half an hour for a standard-length movie, depending on the speed of your DVD-ROM and some other factors. When it is finished, you will get a popup menu informing you that DVD Decrypter has completed (you might even jump if you have your speaker volume turned up). Close DVD Decrypter when complete. Copying the DVD to the hard drive using DVDFab Platinum(Shareware):Download and install DVDFab Platinum. Insert your DVD and close any Autorun applications that begin. I use DVDFab Platinum because I feel it is easier to use than DVD Decrypter and it automatically removes any DVD protection. Sometimes it will ask you about enabling Path Player which is required to copy some protected DVDs. Click Yes if it wants to enable Path Player. Start DVDFab Platinum and it will start reading the DVD. After the DVD loads DVDFab Platinum will show the available DVD titles, Audio Files and Subtitles. Select Customize from the left side. I selected Customize because I want to remove the DVD Menu because we will not need it.Now select the Main movie(1 in the picture), the Audio(2) and the subtitle(3) as you like. Then select the Target Folder(4). Remember to set the quality to 100% always because we will be using the DVD for encoding. Then Click Next. On the next page you will have the option to remove Menus and to set the Title Playback Order Settings(If you are using a TV Serial DVD). For now we are going to remove the Menus because we don’t need them for encoding. Set the volume label as you like. Click Start and the copying process will begin. After the copying process is finished click Ok>Finish and close DVDFab Platinum. |
