Community Healthcare Clinic
You've heard the term "complementary" or "alternative" medicine...now discover how Integrative health care can help you and your family lead a healthy life.
In a 1998 survey reported in JAMA, alternative medicine visits exceeded visits to conventional primary care providers, and 70% of such encounters were never discussed with the patient's regular personal physician. In 1997, out-of-pocket expenditures for alternative therapies were estimated at $27 billion, which was more than the out-of-pocket expenditures for all physician services that year!
At The Belle Terre Wellness Center you can discover a Holistic approach to health care that treats the "whole" person, not simply symptoms and disease.
Our Holistic Approach
Holistic health care is an integrated approach to health care that treats the "whole" person, not simply symptoms and disease. Mind and body are integrated and inseparable. Our holistic health care practitioners do more than just identify and treat a specific ailment. They are trained to look at the various aspects of your lifestyle and health issues, and design a course of treatment to help you reach your optimum level of wellness.
Holistic health is not only concerned with the absence of disease, but with a positive state of being. We combine the wisdom, traditions and disciplines of Eastern healing arts with the advances of modern Western medicine to achieve this ideal.
At our professional Integrative Health Care Clinic, located in Beautiful Port Jefferson NY, patients are not passive recipients of health care. Our philosophy is that each person has a responsibility for his/her own health and must be an active participant in his/her own healing. Patients are encouraged to be responsible for the daily care of their health through diet, exercise, lifestyle and attitudes about what constitutes wellness. We support our patients every step of the way, helping them to make appropriate choices and take responsibility for their well being.
Core Principles of our Holistic Health Philosophy
- Real health involves the "whole" person.
- Mind and body are integrated and inseparable.
- The body contains an energy system that underlies and enlivens the physical body.
- Holistic health treats the "whole" person, not just symptoms and disease.
- Real health is not just the absence of disease, but a positive state of being.
- Real health is achieved with treatment of causes rather than symptoms, using natural and preventive approaches to health.
- Each person has a responsibility for his/her own health and must be an active participant in his/her own healing.
The Homeodynamic Model
A fundamental principle of Holistic medicine is the knowledge that health is not just the absence of disease, but a dynamic state of balance in a living energy system. This core principle that individuals are in a constant and dynamic relationship to health and to illness, while always striving for the balance that reflects good health, is the basis from which Holistic practitioners assess and treat. The homeodynamic model demonstrates this principle.
The Homeodynamic Model emphasizes the interaction between an individual and his/her environment to discover what factors promote or prevent health and well-being. Harmony in these interactions reflects a state of wellness, while disharmony and imbalance results in disease. There are several major sources of imbalance, as demonstrated in the Homeodynamic Model.
By understanding the causes of disharmony and making changes and adjustments in the energy system, harmony, balance and good health can be restored. True healing focuses not just on the treatment of symptoms, but on the underlying root causes of imbalance and disease.
