A session with Shweta Narayan

Join us in a meet n greet session and talk to Shweta Narayan, a long-time environmental justice activist, and coordinator of the Community Environmental Monitoring (CEM) program for The Other Media in Tamil Nadu, India.

About Shweta Narayan:
Shweta Narayan has been instrumental in rallying the communities to fight for environmental rights in the Cuddalore area for many years now, and has succesfully educated the community to self-monitor their environment. Shweta and team have championed the fight for justice, along with the ex-workers of the Hindustan Unilever Mercury thermometer plant in Kodaikanal, recently being successful in securing the their demands. She has spread the good work done in the CEM program to many other areas in India like Ennore, Mettur, Cheyyur, Chattisgarh and Himachal Pradesh. As a Right to Information activist, she has unearthed and used information regarding violations of industries to hold regulatory agencies and industries accountable, and to assist communities in their quest for a pollution-free environment
