Old McCormick had a farm
Old McCormick had a farm
OKAY: Just the beginning of the story... 1809 Feb 15, a son is born to Robert Hall McCormick and his wife (Mary Anne), in Rockbridge County, Va. U.S.A. He was later Christened Cyrus Hall McCormick, and was the eldest of the 8 McCormick children. 1831 At age 22 young Cyrus takes over the design of his fathers unsuccessful reaper. In a six week period he redesigned, built, tested and remodelled his design in the family smithy at Walnut Grove. Reaper is successfully demonstrated on a neighbours farm at Steeles Tavern in late July. Cyrus carried out several changes to design before patenting the machine in 1834. Earlier in June Cyrus had been Granted a patent for a cast and wrought iron plough. “The Patent Hill Side Plow” enjoyed a good reputation in the valley of Virginia at the time. 1847 Demand for McCormick's reaper became greater than the Walnut Grove smithy could produce. Cyrus is survived by his wife "Nettie Fowler McCormick" and his brother Leander (who joined him in partnership in 1856). In the year of his death his company, the “McCormick Harvesting Machine Co” sold 54,841 machines. As well as being an inventor he is also widely regarded as being an innovator of good business practices, some of his innovations were : *Being the fist manufacturer to offer a written warranty. *To provide training/education to customers on how to use his products and get the best from them. *To set on a sales force to canvass door to door. *Using advertising to expand his business. *Using collection agents to collect overdues.

This is a 1958 model Massey Ferguson 98. There were only 502 of these built. It has a 3-71 Detroit diesel engine and was built by Oliver Tractor Company for Massey Ferguson. Massey Ferguson had a fire at their plant and asked Oliver to build these tractors. Oliver built two proto types to show then built 500 for sale. It is the same as the Oliver Super 99 with different sheet metal. This tractor was owned by a 81 year old man and was in great running and working condition. The tractor is owned by Mark Ellenbarger and the work was done by E & E Equipment in Fort Worth, Texas. It is now a show and pulling tractor.

Bosch 11224VSR 7/8-Inch SDS Rotary Hammer
The first thing you'll notice about Bosch's rotary hammer is its great ergonomics, which clearly were a major consideration in the design of the hammer. The grip and trigger mechanism are well integrated, especially the front grip, and long enough to accommodate different body styles (I've got long arms; my buddy is the opposite: we both liked the tool's feel). For a rotary hammer, design is especially critical during overhead and down-drilling operations, where fatigue can quickly rear its ugly head. The tool's vario-lock positioning is great; it gives you 36 different working angles to choose from so you can modify the tool to fit the application. Likewise, the hammer offers three operational modes: hammer only, rotation only, and hammer with rotation. Are there drawbacks? Not many. The bit-changing mechanism is a little stiff and a little cumbersome, perhaps--but that's a pretty minor negative in a tool that otherwise provides such pleasant operation. The people at Bosch really know what they're doing, and it shows in this tool.
