A key to wonderous flavors and exotic dreams, and an old key ... UTATA Project
+ 6 decades ago the world was coming out of a huge war. India was moving toward independence from England, and towards partitions that would create what are now Pakistan and Bangladesh, amongst other changes. In that milieu a huge displacement of people occured, and my parents went to the subcontinent to help relieve a small bit of the suffering through work with the American Friends Service Committee. More than two years later they came back. My sister is named after the daughter of the British Viceroy who oversaw the partition. My father provided medical expertise, including the monitoring of certain lab equipment donated to various clinics in India. My mother helped start a university program for nutrition and dietetics. She brought back expertise in Indian cookery that I'm sure established my love for the scents and flavors of curries and many other Indian foods. This is one of the cookbooks of hers that we found when we organized her personal effects over this past year. The key is from an old hutch that stood in our house throughout my childhood - now with my brother [key doesn't do much good here!]. I believe it came from one of my grandparents.Mt Kilimanjaro National Park: Machame Gate
About an hour's drive by van from the hotel, we entered the National Park gate. Chaos reigned for another hour or so while the guides finalized our permit and organized our gear and food into manageable bundles for the porters to carry. Every group on the mountain employs porters -- there is no way to make the climb without them. In addition to sleeping tents and pads, food for everyone, cooking gear, each climber's duffel bag, and their own stuff, they carry a dining tent and chairs, medical equipment, and a "private toilet" for the clients. Toward the end of the climb, they also gather and bring enough water to last the whole group two full days.
Movement is a vivid discovery, a fundamental and explicit teaching in which the return to basics takes on a whole new meaning. In it, author Gray Cook crosses the lines between rehabilitation, conditioning and fitness, providing a clear model and a common language under which fitness and rehabilitation professionals can work together. By using systematic logic and revisiting the natural developmental principals all infants employ as they learn to walk, run and climb, Gray forces a new look at motor learning, corrective exercise and modern conditioning practices. The discoveries, lessons and approaches you'll learn * How to view and measure movement quality alongside quantity * How to ascertain dysfunctional patterns with the Functional Movement Screen * What clinicians need to know about the Selective Functional Movement Assessments * When to apply corrective strategies and how to determine which strategies to use * How to map movement patterns and understand movement as a behavior and not just as a mechanical idea This book is not simply about the anatomy of moving structures. Rather, it serves a broader purpose to help the reader understand authentic human movement, and how the brain and body create and learn movement patterns. Our modern dysfunctions are a product of our isolated and incomplete approaches to exercise imposed on our sedentary lifestyles. A return to movement principles can create a more comprehensive exercise and rehabilitation model, a model that starts with movement.Similar posts:
