General Interests

I am interested in how individual differences in behavior shape task performance, division of labor, and long-term colony productivity/success in animal societies.  Studies on multiple species of social spider have independently confirmed that individual variation in behavior has far-reaching implications for (I) determining the functional roles that individuals play in their colony, (II) governing the nature of species interactions between social spiders and their numerous inquilines, (III) determining the productivity, survivorship, and extinction risk of both individual colonies and entire colony lineages.
