Geriatric Care

India stands a dismal 73rd in the list of 91 countries, according to Global Age Watch Index-2013, on the well being of the elderly in a rapidly ageing world. This rank is based on a UN backed study.

Age Care Foundation is providing basic health care to elderly persons living in old age homes by visiting them regularly on monthly basis and providing required medicines free of cost.

The geriatric team consists of Doctors, Nurses, Social workers and Volunteers. At present we are serving nine old age homes in and around the city of Visakhapatnam.

For the benefit of elders living in the community we conduct out patient clinics at nine different locations. While seven of them are with in the city, the other two are in rural and tribal areas. All put together these clinics run on 20 days in a month. More than 800 patients visit these clinics and most  of the patients are from lower socio-economic strata. Free medicines are given to all deserving patients.

Palliative Care

"Cure sometimes, treat often, comfort always." - Hippocrates

Palliative care is specialized medical care for people with serious illness. It focuses on providing relief from the symptoms and stress of a serious illness. The goal is to improve quality of life for both the patient and the family.

Palliative care is provided by a specially-trained team of doctors, nurses, social workers, volunteers and other specialists. It is appropriate at any age and at any stage in a serious illness and can be provided along with curative treatment. Palliative care services are provided both at home and hospice. We are running a six bed hospice in association with St. Joseph's Hospital in their premises at Maharanipet, Visakhapatnam.

Treatment is also provided at home and home care visits are made by Doctors, Nurses and Social workers as per the needs and requirements of the patients and their families.

Age Care Foundation does not charge fees for any of its services.
