This is a site for the AGCAS Regional Training Course – Social Media for Beginners held at the University of Leicester on Tuesday 19th June 2012. As we get closer to the day we will populating the site with the resources used in the session and further information.

Outline of the day

Introduction to Social Media
An overview of what is meant by Social Media and the skills required to utilise the potential of networks for you as a careers professional

Twitter Practical Session

This hands on session will take you through the 'how-tos' of Twitter, looking at some of the conventions used, how to expand your network and why it is recoginsed as a powerful CPD tool.

Linkedin Practical Session
In this practical session we will look at how this service can be utilised personally to expand you network and as a powerful careers guidance tool that can be used with students

Using social media as a Careers Service
This session will case study how Careers Services can use social media to engage with students and employers

Advising Students
How to show students how to utilise the potentials of social media to enhance their employability
