Association of Food Technologists is an organization made to help food science students in all aspects of their college career.

Our club objectives are:

  • To foster a close relationship among the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition students and faculty at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
  • To present leadership opportunities to Food Science and Human Nutrition students.
  • To make a connection between Food Science and Human Nutrition students and the food industry through guest speakers, company tours and internship opportunities.

We hold monthly meetings the first Tuesday of every month located in the Bevier Commons. Each meeting features a guest speaker or an activity.

What's the Best About Our Club?

"Last year, I began attending AFT meetings to learn more about jobs and internship opportunities in the food industry. I met a lot of my classmates at the meetings and found AFT to be a great way to make new friends and get involved in food science!"           -David Lee

"Being part of AFT is a blast. I've made friends, professional contacts, and lots of lasagna!"  -Nick Reitz

"I joined AFT as a way to connect with other students and facility in the department and to learn more about companies in the food industry."                     -Kelsey

"You hear a lot about the food industry from class, but AFT offers a chance to interact with industry contacts, learn about individual companies, while meeting fellow FSHN students."
-Andy Gusmano
