"...they were ALL together in one place”  Acts 2:1

  • Fellowship and Worship
  • Celebrate, honor and memorialize:
    • Bishop Will Herzfeld
    • Bishop Nelson Trout
    • Dr. Grover Wright
    • Rev. Dr. Richard Wallace
    • Rev. Dr. Massie L. Kennard
    • Mrs. Dorothy Ricks
    • And ALL others who have died in the faith since the formation of the ELCA in 1988
  • Honor and celebrate ALL our living elders
  • Seek the wisdom of our elders in guiding future efforts
  • Affirm our ONENESS as people of African descent and gain greater clarity of issues that hinder our Oneness and ways to overcome them for the “greater good”
  • Develop specific recommendations to guide the work of the ELCA within the African descent communities
  • Pass the torch from our elders to the younger generation
  • Hear directly from ELCA’S presiding bishop on church’s commitments to our communities

“I am because We are”
(an African proverb from the Xhosa people)

The proverb compels ALL OF US as African Descendants, to come together in the spirit of Sankofa to honor and celebrate our past accomplishments, as we strategically engage our future as members of the ELCA and the world’s community of God’s people.
