A significant milestone in the history of AFC Barwell was reached this week, with the club becoming a registered charity.

The Dovecote Way-based football club was awarded charitable status following a successful application to the Charity Commission. Registered Charity status will help the club to more effectively represent and help the needs of the local community, as well as making it easier to access funds from government and grant-making trusts.

Neal Fletcher, Club Chairperson said:

“This is a fantastic achievement and one we have been working towards for a while. We are already working at the highest level of FA Charter Standard, and the award of charitable status is further recognition of our efforts and good governance both on and off the football field. The team who put together the application have worked hard and it’s great that we got the result we were looking for.

“We are very proud of what we have here.”

AFC Barwell is an FA Charter Standard Community football club offering grassroots football to players between the ages of 3 and 18.
