A while back Kathy got me one of those nifty Garmin GPS bike computers. Apparently Jim and I forgot to mention that to use it I would also need a new wheel. I finally splurged on a Power Tap Pro+ hub, bladed Sapim spokes, and a HED Belgium rim. Even though the hub is far from the lightest they offer, this wheel weighs out 215 grams lighter than my old wired Power Tap/14g spoke/Open Pro rim. As for the wider rim making regular tires feel like tubulars, we'll see about that claim. I compared the compact patches using water (on the tire) and paper (on the ground) and couldn't see any difference. Of course the last time I regularly rode tubulars my bike had a 5-cog freewheel. That may not count as a direct comparison.

Toddlers love to be on the move, but aren't always steady on their feet. So this ride-on is designed with a narrow wheel base in back, making it more stable for toddlers to get on and off by themselves. The wide wheel base in front helps it stay balanced while they climb on. A spinning roller drum in the handlebar offers some fun during rest stops, with shiny reflections and colorful, rattling beads. Comfy, easy-straddle seat, easy-grip handle bars and controlled steering for better maneuvering.
All toddlers love to go faster than their newly walking legs can carry them. On this great all-plastic, scoot-around toy, they can fulfill those desires to zip from one place to another. The 7-inch seat is wide enough for sitting stability, but easy for toddler legs to swing over. With a 15-inch wide front-wheel base, the bike won't tip easily, when being boarded or ridden, and the limited turning radius makes for easier steering. The ride-on toy stands 18 inches tall at the handle bars and 9 inches at the seat, and it measures 20 inches from front to back. --Richard Farr
