PDC16. Preservice Teacher Action Research

This course is for teacher-educators currently (or considering) implementing preservice teacher action research (AR) projects. Developing action research/classroom inquiry skills is critical to being an empowered professional educator. The course will address 1) dilemmas of conducting action research as a preservice teacher; 2) action research design and data collection possibilities and challenges; 3) the use of the analytic memo as a space for critical reflexivity; 3) dilemmas of trustworthiness in preservice teacher AR; and 4) teaching data interpretation. We invite participants to bring samples of preservice teacher AR work, successful teaching strategies, and questions concerning the teaching of preservice teacher AR. Participants will need a laptop to interact with data, templates, and other provided resources.
