I got tired of seeing the flood of ads on webpages and not being able to find something that was effective at dealing with them. After trying several ad blocking proxy servers, the adblock and adblock plus extensions for firefox, and some other things, I finally decided to write my own ad blocker.
All you need to do to use it is to configure your browser to use my proxy auto-config file instead of a direct connection. You will probably have to download it and host it yourself now that google has migrated my page from Google Page Creator to Google Sites. Its released as public domain.
I added support for several special urls that only my adblock2.pac file understands in order to control its operation. (You will get an error message about the url when going to these url's even with the adblock2.pac file in use. There's no way I know of to get around that.) Just type these url's into your browsers address bar to alter the ad blocking behavior.
NOTE: I've taken a second look at Adblock Plus to see how much it had improved since the last time I looked at it. Its much better at blocking ads now, and much more flexible too. So if you want something really easy to use that works very well at blocking ads, then I recommend the Adblock Plus extension for firefox.
