The need for effective computer skills is essential for workers in all fields and one of the core values of the college is that students gain technological and information literacy. Computer applications classes offered through this department provide all students at MCC with the opportunity to gain and/or improve upon computer and information management skills. In addition to individual course offerings, program majors in computer applications are also available. Both campus and online classes are available.
Students in this program are trained to use technology and software applications to perform and coordinate the administrative activities of an office and ensure that information is collected and disseminated to staff and clients. Employees provide support by conducting research, preparing statistical reports, managing databases, preparing spreadsheets and presentations, creating publications, creating web pages, managing the office schedule, and handling information requests. Mastery of computer applications, communication skills, and office management skills is important for success.
