My workstation for games, school work, and surfing the net. It is slower than the other computer I have, but I like it because this is the one with all my music and games on it. My monitor is begging for an LCD replacement; it’s a plain beige 17 inch model with a screen that isn’t even flat! To either side of it are Cambridge SoundWorks speakers, which connect to the subwoofer on the left side under my desk (the black box as I call it). Underneath the monitor sits my hand-me-down laser printer. It is an HP LaserJet 4L which prints rather slowly, but is a great device that has lasted all these years. In front of that is my Uniden 2.4GHz cordless phone which I use all over the house. On the right of the printer is my Motorola FR50 walkie-talkie me and my brother use to talk when he is in the basement and I am upstairs. Underneath are the brains of the operation: my HP Pavilion 503n. Unfortunately, the brains are rather skimpy; it is only a 1.7GHz Celeron with 256MB RAM, and a 40GB HDD. Everything I need is built in: 3-port Firewire PCI Card, Wireless-G adapter, various card readers, and audio devices (microphone, digital mixing pad). I am seriously looking to get an upgrade once I can find a job! To the middle of my desk is my AMAZING Microsoft Wireless Desktop Elite Keyboard and IntelliMouse Explorer 2.0 Mouse. The pull-out keyboard tray just holds some junk: notes, a few pens, some rulers, etc. At the very left edge of the desk is the phone I use at my desk when I’m not moving around with my cordless. A year-old Vista 350 Phone which works wonders for getting weather, movie, and traffic information (if only it was cheaper!). Next to that is my pencil holder which needs no explaining. Underneath the desk is my sub-woofer which I talked about with the speakers (my black box).
