Welcome to the Adopt-A-Microbe 2017 project website!
This is the online portal for the ship-to-shore STEM education program run by Dr. Beth Orcutt of the Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences in collaboration with the Girl Scouts of Maine as part of an oceanographic expedition in October 2017 to study life below the seafloor at the Mid-Atlantic Ridge.

The project in a nutshell: From September 24 - November 6, 2017, participants engage in weekly activities to learn about science, microbes, and the deep sea. Scientists at sea will post the activities and updates from the field; participants complete the project activities and send in the results.
