Serving the Community

Admiration Chapter #101 O.E.S. has been a small chapter of quality.  Despite being small in numbers, we have been active in the community performing various community service acts.

Admiration Chapter #101 completed 2007 by helping the Hosea Feed the Hungry & Homeless organization.  Our Sistars were on hand passing out food trays, picking up trash, and helping in the kitchen for both the Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday.  In addition, Admiration Chapter #101 adopted a needy family for the Christmas holiday providing them with items of need and want such as clothing for all, kitchen aids for the mother, and presents for the children.

We started off 2008 in much the same manner.  Sisters spent Easter working again working with Hosea Feed the Hungry.  In April, we participated in Home Depot’s efforts to build playgrounds for children in deserving neighborhoods.  September was spent beautifying a local nursing home.  October, we participated in Aids Walk Atlanta held at Piedmont Park.  Brothers from Admiration Lodge #25 walked along side us as we raised $675.00 for AIDS awareness, research and support.  Rounding out the year much as we did in 2007, for Christmas Admiration Chapter #101 adopted the children of a needy family and worked with Hosea Feed the Hungry & Homeless.

Not all charitable works done by Admiration Chapter #101 members were performed as a group.  We also moved mountains as individuals.  Sister White donatesd blood to the Red Cross.  Sis. McPhatter and her husband work often with Project Open Hands, providing meals to those in need promoting health and wellness.  Sis. Haire helps out with the Bridge, a facility helping troubled and abused adolescents.

Not all help is to an organization either!  Members of Admiration helped a local ranch owner, and Brother since 1969, maintain upkeep of his ranch by cleaning stalls for his horses.

Future holds no limits!  Our 2008-2009 plans for community service include continued work with Hosea Feed the Hungry & Homeless organization, adopting another family in need for this Christmas holiday, and AIDS Walk Atlanta.  In addition we are seeking new ways of supporting the community such as working with Hands on Atlanta, The Bridge (an organization helping abused youth), and starting a mentorship program.

Keep looking for bigger and better things from Admiration Chapter #101 O.E.S. as we continue to grow our Chapter!
