Broadwater Beach Hotel Marina Channel Lighthouse, MS
The light was privately built in 1965 at the marina for the Broadwater Beach Hotel. On August 25, 2005 the area was struck by Hurricane Katrina which destroyed most of Biloxi, MS including both the hotel and the marina but the light survived with minor damage. These pictures were taken in late October, 2006. The last time I heard anything the marina had not been rebuilt but the light was still standing. Don't know if that is now the case. I included a picture of the light and surrounding damage and one of just the light.
Taken on a foggy Friday afternoon along the coast on US 90 in Biloxi/ Gulfport, Mississippi 12/15/06. The beach and Gulf of Mexico are directly behind me, across Hwy 90. The fog adds a haunted quality to these images. The damage wrought by hurricane Katrina remains evident over a year after its incursion into the Gulf Coast.
